A Development Consultant plays a key role in leading the technical implementation and customization of Esker’s on-demand, cloud-based SaaS solutions. In this role, the consultant takes ownership of solution development across multiple projects, applying advanced technical expertise to deliver scalable, reliable, and customer-centric configurations.

As a trusted technical advisor, the Development Consultant works closely with customers and cross-functional teams to translate complex business requirements into robust solution designs. With a strong understanding of ERP integrations, workflow automation, and user interface customization, this role ensures that each implementation delivers measurable business outcomes, supports long-term scalability, and aligns with Esker’s standards of excellence.

Key responsibilities

  • Lead technical implementation efforts as part of a cross-functional team to implement and enhance Esker’s SaaS solutions.
  • Serve as the technical point of contact for customer-facing conversations; translating complex business requirements into robust, maintainable solution designs.
  • Demonstrate strong negotiation and influencing skills including the ability to handle difficult customer conversations and guide stakeholders
  • Fosters a collaborative environment, that promotes positivity, innovation and problem solving
  • Customize workflows, reports, background logic, and interfaces using technologies such as JavaScript, XML, and JSON.
  • Develop or configure integrations between Esker solutions and ERP systems like SAP or Oracle.
  • Ability to read and explain code and understand asynchronous vs synchronous coding
  • Execute test cases, resolve technical issues, and ensure high-quality configuration aligned with project goals.
  • Own solution document solution customizations and support continuous improvement efforts across solutions and delivery processes
  • Mentor junior consultants and contribute to team best practices, sharing technical insights and solution expertise

Required qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree preferably in computer science, mathematics, engineering or business or experience in lieu of degree
  • 2+ years of experience in software development, support or combination thereof

  • Ability to function effectively in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple projects simultaneously
  • Ability and flexibility to travel (domestic and/or international)

Preferred qualifications

  • Understanding of accounting and finance business practices
  • Understanding of cloud-based solutions as well as SaaS experience
  • Experience working in an Agile, scrum and kanban principals
  • Understanding of Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) such as SAP, Oracle, or JDE
  • Familiarity with version control and git
  • Experience in automated unit tests, Oracle EBS, SAP, SOAP, REST, TypeScript
  • Experience working with external clients
  • Experience with JavaScript, XML, JSON, relational databases (Oracle, SQL Server)
  • Experience with object-oriented programming

Salary Range: $87,200 - $109,000 + Incentive
