Esker on Air S6 E7: Cencora’s Automation Journey to the Modern Office of the CFO

As the overseer of source-to-pay, order-to-cash and other Finance functions, the Office of the CFO is a company’s control center, helping the business grow, stay organized and make smart decisions. But without the right technology tools, the Office of the CFO won’t get the performance data and visibility into processes they need to drive company growth. 

With 1500 locations across 80 countries and more acquisitions coming on board all the time, Cencora — a global pharmaceutical solutions provider — needed a way to bring consistency and transparency to their financial operations. In 2008, they kicked off their AI-driven automation journey with Esker Accounts Payable. With Esker’s help, Cencora standardized their AP processes across multiple business units, eliminated time-consuming manual work and started seeing valuable analytics on a variety of key metrics. 

Building on the success of Esker Accounts Payable, Cencora expanded their use of AI-driven automation with Esker Accounts Receivable, Procurement, eSourcing, Credit Management, Claims and Deductions, and Collections.  

The company recently shared what they’ve learned on their trek towards building a stronger Office of the CFO and their advice for other companies interested in implementing automation technology.
